Man kills baby, injures wife, son over milk

A middle-aged man was on Tuesday arraigned in Court after he surrendered to police after allegedly murdering his six-year old daughter and inflicting severe injuries on his wife in Gilgil’s Tangi Tano area.

The Saturday night incident is said to have taken place after a quarrel with his wife over a litre of milk intended to feed their two children.

According to the wife, the man brutally beat her up before hitting the six-month daughter with a hammer on the head and burning their one-year old son with charcoal.

“I fled to my parents’ home within Tangi Tano village for safety since I was in fear and shocked by the action of my husband,” noted the woman.

Police officers who visited the scene of crime found the one-year old boy in pain and rushed him to the Nairobi Womens Hospital together with his mother.

The one-year old boy is responding well to medication.

Area administrative officer, Angela Gwaro, said that investigations are ongoing.
