Man kills brother in love triangle

Residents of Musika Village West in Asango sub-location in Ugunja sub-county were on Wednesday shocked after a 30-year-old man allegedly killed his stepbrother in a love triangle.

The man, identified as Fredrick Otieno, is said to have beaten and killed Peter Omondi following a disagreement over a 45-year-old widow, Beatrice Auko.

According to the area Assistant Chief Mr Patrick Okuku, the deceased had inherited the woman according to traditional customs, but Otieno seems to have had an interest in the woman.

“Omondi inherited the widow in question, but it seems Fredrick had an interest in her, which I think created hatred between the two, a reason that prompted a quarrel between them,” said the administrator.

According to him, the fight began at around 8.00 pm when the two men, who were both drunk, began fighting, where it is alleged that Otieno picked a club and hit Omondi who fell down unconscious.

Mr Okuku stated that neighbors who arrived at the scene p rushed Omondi to the nearby Sigomere Health Center where he was pronounced dead.

The assistant chief, who confirmed the incident, stated that after realizing that Omondi had passed on, the woman together with the suspect escaped.

Police have launched a manhunt for the two.
