Man kills brother, injures mother in Siaya

A 36-year-old man was on Tuesday arrested after killing his brother and injuring his mother at Abwao village in Bondo, Siaya County.

Erick Ochieng was arrested after he allegedly hacked and killed George Odhiambo, 33, following a family dispute on Monday night.

According to Bondo OCPD Harriet Kinya, the suspect hacked and severely injured the younger brother together with their mother Esther Awino who tried to intervene.

The two were later rushed to Bondo sub-county hospital where the younger brother succumbed to the injuries.

The police boss said the suspect had tried to escape but was nabbed by members of the public who cornered and seriously beat him up before the police came to his rescue.

He was taken to Bondo Police Station and is set to be arraigned on Thursday this week.
