Man kills friend over woman

A 25-year-old man was  stabbed to death Thursday, November 10 morning by his friend over a disagreement over a woman in Samburu’s Ng’ari village.

According to an eye witnesses, ThairusLekaaso, the two fought for some hours before the deceased was overpowered and killed by his friend.

“They started fighting in the village where they had gone to drink over the woman. When they got to the house, the fight became intense and one of them stabbed the other in the stomach,” narrated Lekaaso.

The suspect was pursued by angry residents at Ledero area, about 10 kms from the scene of crime, as he tried to flee.

Maralal OCPD, Abagarro Guyo, said police arrested the assailant and recovered the weapon he used to stab his victim.

“After investigations we found the suspect who committed the murder and now the case is in our hands. He will  appear in court as soon as police are through with investigations,” said Guyo.

Guyo commended residents, led by their chief, for co-operating with the police in ensuring that the suspect was  arrested.

According to Ng’ari Chairman of Nyumba Kumi Initiative, Charles Lesorio, the suspect was a threat to the community as he had earlier stolen from some homes and threatened to kill other people.

“We have  handled several cases where he was involved. Just recently he attempted to murder an old man who lives just around here,” he said.

The deceased’s  body was removed to Samburu County Referral Hospital mortuary in Maralal Town for a  postmortem.
