Police in Siaya County are pursuing a 25-year-old man who is suspected to have killed his mother at Kaduor village over a land dispute.

Area Assistant Chief Michela Abaki said the 47-year-old woman, who was a widow, had left home at day time on Saturday to attend a women group meeting but never returned home, prompting her two daughters in-law to start searching for her.

After hours of searching, the woman’s family members found her body on Sunday morning dumped in a nearby bush.

The chief said after the body was found, the woman’s son together with his wife escaped, raising suspicion on his involvement in the brutal murder of his mother.

The chief added that the family members confirmed that the 25-year-old man had been in conflict with the mother over a piece of family land.

The body of the deceased was taken to Bondo Sub-county Hospital mortuary as a hunt for the suspect continues.
