Man living with HIV commits suicide, blames family

A man living with HIV committed suicide in Nyamira County on Sunday over alleged frustrations from his family.

60-year-old Stephen Orina from Ikurucha village in Keera location had reportedly mentioned to his wife that he was contemplating suicide for being mistreated by his family members whom he accused of despising and continuously showing him disrespect.

Area chief John Oire confirmed the incident, saying the father of four made good his threat and committed suicide after his wife, Rachael Kerubo had left for the market.

Kerubo would later return home only to find her husband’s body hanging from a rope inside their bedroom.

The body of the deceased has been transferred to Nyamira Level-5 hospital morgue pending investigations.
