Man lynched after hacking parents

A 33-year-old man has been lynched by irate members of the public after he allegedly hacked and seriously injured his parents and two siblings at Mahua village, Malanga sub-location in Gem sub-county.

Emanuel Otieno Ayieta, who is said to be mentally unstable, reportedly went berserk on Thursday, hacking members of his family.

According to the acting chief of North Gem location, Mr Philip Owuor, the deceased came from his house and went straight to his parents’ house before embarking on this heinous act.

Mr Owuor told Citizen Digital that the deceased’s father’s cry for help is what prompted his mother and two siblings to rush into the house, only for the deceased to attack them.

Owuor said that the victims were rushed to Yala Sub-County Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

The body was moved to the Yala Sub-County Hospital mortuary to await a postmortem as a probe into the matter was launched.
