Man moves to court over Jubilee Party slogan

A businessman has moved to the High Court over the Tuko Pamoja slogan used by the Jubilee Party.

The man, Jonathan Kinyanzwi Katiku, who appeared before justice Fred Ochieng claims that the slogan is his business trade mark and wants the court to issue temporary orders restraining Jubilee and its members from using the slogan pending hearing and determination of the matter.

The matter was certified as urgent and the businessman has been directed to serve the respondents through a notice on a daily newspaper and to appear on 9th September 2016 for an inter parties hearing.

This comes even as the Muungano Party Chairman Titus Muunda threatened to sue the Jubilee Party over the same.

The Chairman said that the party had already written to the Political Parties registrar.

“The law does not allow two political parties to have the same slogan,” said Muunda.

Muunda claimed that the similarity was confusing party members since the Muungano Party is under CORD and not Jubilee.
