Man poisons 2-year-old daughter, commits suicide

A man committed suicide on Tuesday after killing his daughter at Bukhanywa village in Shinyalu, Kakamega County.

The man, who was a meat seller at Lubao market, is said to have poisoned the two-year-old girl, before taking his life by ingesting the same poisonous substance.

According to the family of the deceased, the man had been left with the daughter after his wife fled their matrimonial home on claims that he was cheating on her.

Area Chief Micah Munai confirmed the incident saying the man had tried to reach out to his wife at her parents home before committing the act.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Kakamega Hospital mortuary.
