Man resurfaces days after his burial

A man from Oleran Chemwokter, Narok County, who disappeared three years ago resurfaced Monday, five days after he was ‘buried’.

46-year-old Paul Kirich, a father of four and married to Pheona Kirich, 35, said that he had been working as a casual labourer at the Ndonyo Ranch in Ewaso Nyiro.

His brother, Simon Kirich, said prior to his re-surfacing, the family believed that he (Paul) was among a group of people who drowned in River Ewaso Nyiro in December last year and his body taken to Narok Mortuary.

He (Simon) regrets the mistake that had led to the situation but assured that village elders would be summoned to cleanse him and his brother.

Their mother and his (Paul’s) wife expressed their joy upon his arrival saying that the pain of a mysterious death was unimaginable.

“It feels amazing to be reunited with my husband once again after such a long time following his mysterious disappearance. Thankfully, my family is whole again,” said his wife.

According to cultural practices, the family will have to cleanse the grave after the exhumation process has been done.

Kirich, who is also the first born in a family of nine, says he will go back to Ewaso Nyiro to fend for his young family.
