Man sentenced to 10 years for killing his sister
A court in Kisii has sentenced a middle-aged man to ten years in prison after he pleaded guilty to killing his sister.
The accused was charged with murder but the charge was later reduced to manslaughter, which the accused pleaded guilty to and was subsequently convicted for the lesser charge.
According to the charge chit, Dennis Nyabwori Nyakundi unlawfully caused the death of Josephine Kwamboka Nyakundi on 9/22/2012 at Nyakambo Village Kiomooncha, sub location in Marani sub county within Kisii County at around 2:00pm.
The accused, who had lived with his sister for over 30 years, is said to have committed the offence due to domestic squabbles.
The deceased was hacked to death with a panga and was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital with serious injuries on her head, but was pronounced dead on the arrival.
Post mortem examination of the deceased’s body revealed that the cause of death was brain hemorrhage due to a deep cut wound.
The accused was later arrested and made to undergo mental health examination, which found him fit, before he was charged with murder and later manslaughter.
