Man sentenced to 10 years in jail for defiling minor

A Kilgoris Court has sentenced a man to ten years imprisonment for defiling a 17-year-old girl.

Fredrick Owegi allegedly met the Form Two girl at Migori and lured her into a relationship by promising to give her gifts.

The man caused stir in the court when he confirmed to the judge that he was in college and that his education was being funded by wellwishers and funds raised by villagers.

In November last year, an administration police officer in Karatina was arrested for allegedly being in a love affair with a form two student at Gathehu village, Mathira East district.

The officer, attached to Gathehu AP post, was arrested after his illicit affair with the minor was discovered by her mother who found love letters written by the officer in their house.
