Man sentenced to 30 years in jail for killing neighbor over miraa

A 52-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 years in jail for killing his neighbor over miraa in Gatuntu village, Muiru location.

The court had been told how the deceased had confronted Severino Mbaka after he found him stealing his miraa in June 2018.

There was a verbal confrontation which then turned into a fight.

One of the witnesses, who was the accused’s son, testified that he saw his father hit their neighbor with a stick.

According to the 15-year-old boy, the neighbor was hit on the head twice.

The man was rushed to hospital but died shortly after.

The accused had denied the charges but the court ruled that the evidence implicated him in the murder.
