Man sets himself on fire after wife leaves him

A 41-year-old man set himself on fire after his wife left him in Gatwe village, Kirinyaga County.

Speaking at the scene of the incident, the deceased’s mother Sicily Wambui, said her son, Patrick Bundi initially wanted to torch his house with his children inside but decided to set himself ablaze after failing to find them.

“He became disillusioned after his wife left him on Saturday. On Sunday morning he came to my house looking for his children, I told him that they were at Sunday school. He would later call me and tell me to take care of the children before setting himself on fire at 3am,” Ms. Wambui said.

Charles Muriithi, the deceased’s uncle said Bundi was a temperamental and a reserved person.
