Man sets house on fire after parents reject his choice of wife

A 34-year-old man from Gacucari village in Embu set his house on fire on Sunday after his parents rejected the woman he wanted to marry.

Embu North OCPD Mark Wanjala said that the man identified as Samuel Njeru Njue came home drunk and set ablaze his three bedroom house after arguing with his parents who disapproved of his choice of wife.

“Samuel Njue set his house on fire after an argument with his parents over his marital plans and set his house on fire. Luckily his neighbours who saw smoke billowing from his house put out the fire before it destroyed the property,” Wanjala said.

Njue has since been arrested and will be charged with arson and endangering the lives of others before a court of law.
