Man shot after raiding OCPD’s residence

A 26-year-old man is fighting for his live at Karatina Sub County Hospital following a botched robbery at the official residence of the Mathira East police boss.

The suspect, together with his accomplices, are reported to have raided the home of Mathira East OCPD Mathew Ngwiyo at 3AM armed with crude weapons with an intent to steal.

Ngwiyo said that he was asleep when he heard a commotion outside his residence.

On checking, he found the suspect in his living room and a scuffle ensued after which the suspect was shot as he tried to escape through the widow.

According to David Ndegwa, the doctor in charge of Karatina Sub County Hospital where the suspect is currently receiving treatment, the suspect sustained a deep gunshot wound in his hip and has been operated on.

Dr. Ndegwa further adds that his intestines were perforated but have been rectified and he is in a stable condition.

The suspect is under twenty four hour police guard and will arraigned in court once he has been treated.
