Man shot in Migori as anti-poll demos turn chaotic

A 30-year-old man has been shot and injured in Migori as demonstrations against the repeat presidential election set for Thursday, October 26 turned chaotic.

Laban Odero was shot in the arm after police fired at demonstrators who were hurling stones at them near Migori Primary School on Wednesday afternoon.

The demonstrators had barricaded the Migori – Isbania highway paralysing transport on the highway leading to the neighbouring Tanzania.

He was rushed to Oruba Nursing Home, where the facility’s administrator, Mike Ochere, confirmed Mr Odero is in a stable condition.

The situation remains tense in Migori with business operations and transport grounded.

Similar demonstrations have also been witnessed in Kisumu and Homa Bay where residents have vowed to block tomorrow’s election.
