Man slashes father with panga in fight over motorbike

A middle-aged man was on Monday arraigned at the Embu Law Courts for allegedly attacking his father with a machete at Gicherori village in Embu County.

33-year-old Martin Mukinyia Njue alias ‘Mutirithia’ appeared before Embu Senior Principal Magistrate Henry Nyakweba, where he was charged with assaulting and causing grievous bodily harm to his father on Christmas Eve.

The accused denied the charges and was released on a bond of Ksh.10,000 with a surety of the same amount or a Ksh.5,000.

The accused claimed his father had randomly confiscated his motorcycle therefore robbing him of a livelihood.

The case will be mentioned on January 2, while hearing was set on April 30, 2020.
