Man stabbed to death over suspected love affair

A middle-aged man from Suba North constituency in Homa Bay County was on Thursday 28th, arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing another man whom he suspected was having a love affair with his wife.

The suspect, only identified as Chris, allegedly stabbed Otieno Odongo twice in the abdomen after a scuffle ensued between the two over Chris’ wife, Pamela Auma.

Both the suspect and the now-deceased, who was a Tanzanian national, were fishermen, who operated in Remba Island.

Confirming the incident, Mfangano location chief Alice Otieno said Chris, who turned himself in, claimed Ms Auma had been secretly seeing Mr Odongo for a while; and that on December 24, the alleged randy couple spent the night (December 24) together.

The suspect further claimed that Mr Odongo and Ms Auma had been spotted several times strolling together within Remba Island.

On December 25, Chris confronted Mr Odongo, and when their disagreement escalated to uncontrollable levels, Chris brandished a kitchen knife and fatally stabbed Mr Odongo two times in the stomach before handing himself in at Mbita Police Station.

Mr Odongo’s body was moved to Kirindo Hospital mortuary.

Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
