Man stabs friend to death in Homa Bay after New Year celebrations turn awry

A 38-year-old man was on Tuesday night stabbed to death at a pub in Homa Bay County after new year celebrations turned chaotic.

The man identified as Kennedy Ochieng’ died at Luanda Kawuor center.

It is alleged that his friend Samuel Otieno stabbed him several times in the neck after an altercation at the bar.

According to the area Assistant chief Joash Osuju, the two men were having their drinks when an argument arose at around 9.pm.

He arrived at the scene with police officers after being alerted about the commotion only to find the deceased laying in a pool of blood with deep cuts on the neck.

The suspect had however fled the scene by the time the officers from Ndhiwa Police Station were called in.

Angry residents later stormed his home and set it ablaze, razing down to houses in the compound.

Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum confirmed the incident saying they have launched manhunt for the suspect who is still at large.

The body of the deceased was moved to Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
