Man who bragged about sex with a minor arraigned

A man who was arrested after bragging about having sex with a minor on Facebook was on Tuesday arraigned in court and charged with promoting a sexual offence with a minor.

Calvin Mbane Alfayo alias Mohamed Alfayo was arraigned at Sotik Law Courts in Bomet County where he pleaded not guilty to charges of promoting sexual offences with a child contrary to Section 12 (a) of the sexual offences Act and of distributing written article intended to promote sexual offences with a child.

Alfayo was accused of defiling a Standard four pupil after he posted photos on his Facebook account bragging of engaging in sexual acts with the minor.

The accused appeared before Sotik Senior Resident Magistrate Bernard Omwansa where he pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released on a Ksh.100,000 bond or surety of a similar amount.

The case was to be mentioned on Wednesday October 5, but Alfayo could not take a plea as investigations were still underway.

Sotik Division Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO), Kinoti Marete, confirmed that police had the victim in custody after it was revealed that she is the wife of the accused and is actually 21 years old.
