Man who hacked wife beaten to death by angry mob in Makueni

A middle-aged man who hacked his wife using a panga at her parents’ home was on Saturday killed by an enraged mob in Mithumo, Makueni County.

Confirming the incident, Nduluku Chief Jeremiah Makau said the deceased had visited his in-laws in the area from Machakos where he hails in a bid to resolve differences with his wife.

Mr. Makau added that upon being welcomed into the home, parents of the man’s wife left them alone to discuss their issues but he allegedly locked the door and began hacking her.

The 24-year-old woman’s screams caught the attention of neighbours who stormed the home and beat up the man to death.

The woman is presently receiving treatment at the Makueni County Referral Hospital while the body of the deceased is being preserved at the Tawa sub-county hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
