Man who killed girlfriend in Embakasi charged with murder

A man who allegedly killed her girlfriend and left the body decomposing in their house at Nyayo Estate has been charged with murder.

Martin Kunguru is accused of murdering Charity Mukami Wachira in the night of 15/16 December 2015 at Nyayo Estate in Nairobi by stabbing her before fleeing to Kitale.

Mukami’s decomposing body was found on December 22, 2015 in their Nyayo Embakasi Estate home after it had stayed in the house for almost four days.

According to reports, Kunguru surrendered to police in Kitale where he was arrested and later transported to Nairobi to face the law.

He denied the charge before Justice James Wakiaga at the Nairobi Milimani Law Courts on Thursday.

The judge directed that the accused be taken to a private doctor for further mental assessment before his lawyer can make an application for bail or bond terms which the prosecution has made an indication to oppose.

The case will be mentioned on January 28, 2016.
