Man who knows how Jacob Juma was killed to undergo mental test

Douglas Nyakundi, the man who last week sensationally claimed that the murder of businessman Jacob Juma was planned at the office of DP William Ruto, will be taken to either Mathari or Kenyatta National Hospital for mental assessment.

This is after the accused asked the court to defer his plea to allow fresh investigations into the matter.

Nyakundi had claimed that his boss, only identified as Mr Rono, gave him a confession letter to take to activist Boniface Mwangi explaining how Juma’s murder was planned.

Nyakundi says he was coached by Mr Mwangi on what to say.

The case will be mentioned on December 21.

Mr Nyakundi was last week detained for four days to allow police conclude investigations into his claims.

He claimed he was a messenger in the office of the DP.

According to Philip Mwangi, an investigator attached to the directorate of criminal investigation at the Milimani Police Station, more tme is needed to ascertain that the two men indeed work at the DP’s office.

The court heard that the letter, titled “Self Confession”, contains details of how Juma’s murder was planned and the identities of the people who allegedly committed the murder.
