Mandagos actions destroy national unity-Mudavadi

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi today disapproved the protest that was led by Rift Valley politician Jackson Mandago against Laban Ayiro, the appointed Moi University Vice Chancellor.

Mudavadi termed the protest against Ayiro’s appointment led by Mandago as “unconstitutional”.

Speaking in Kapsasur village during the funeral of Naftali Kevolwe (the father of Jackson Kevolwe, MCA Kiptuiya Ward), Mudavadi said all Kenyans have a constitutional right to live and work anywhere.

He went on to explain that Mandago’s insistence that the Moi University VC job be a preserve of people from the Kalenjin community went against the principles of equity and non-discrimination.

The presidential hopeful went on to pose that such statements and actions destroy national cohesion.

Other leaders present at the funeral were Nandi county women representative Zipporah Kering, Chesumei Mp Elijah Lagat, Vihiga county speaker  and several MCAs.

Mudavadi’s words echo those of National Assembly Education Committee Chairperson Sabina Chege who has called for the disbandment of Moi University Council over the recent demonstrations staged against the appointment of the the acting Vice Chancellor.
