Mandera County sets aside Ksh.6M for Matuu bus accident victims

Victims of the Wednesday morning accident at Matuu area in Machakos County are set to receive support from a Ksh.6 million kitty set aside by the Mandera County Government.

While unveiling the fund, Governor Ali Roba said the money, being part of the county disaster fund, will assist families of the 15 people who perished in the accident and 27 others who were injured.

Governor Roba said Ksh.3 million will be used to support families who lost their loved ones, while the other half will cater for medical bills of the survivors.

The governor said majority of the victims were residents of Mandera including his own security officers, one of whom died in the accident. Roba said the deceased aide was heading to Nairobi on official duty.

The Governor called on drivers particularly on the public transport sector to be extra-vigilant to avert accidents.

The bus belonging to Madina Company rammed into a truck that had been parked by the road side.
