Manhood transplant succeeds after receiver impregnates woman

A penis transplant has been proven successful in Cape Town, South Africa after a recipient has been reported pregnant.

The man’s first penis was amputated as a life-saving measure after severe complications arose from a circumcision practice performed on him.

Dr Andre van der Merwe of Stellenbosch University in Cape Town said led a nine-hour operation in December to replace the penis at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town.

The doctors expected the 21 year old to recover in two years, only to declare in March that the surgery was a success.

The transplant has restored all of the man’s urinary and reproductive functions.
