Manhunt on for matatu crew that helped thugs rob passengers

Police in Kasarani, Nairobi have launched a manhunt for a driver and his tout who are suspected to have colluded with thugs in robbing passengers at a bus stop on Tuesday morning.

It is reported that a group of four men armed with knives were masquerading as passengers in a bus only to start threatening the occupants to surrender their valuables.

Nairobi County Commander Joseph Ole Tito said a woman who sat at the front seat quickly locked the bus and hid the key while other passengers raised an alarm forcing the gangsters and vehicle operators to flee.

No one was injured during the 6:30AM incident.

The county police chief said they would also probe the woman who took the key even as the police continue to pursue the culprits.

Meanwhile, police are pursuing suspected robbers who broke into a home in Karen, Nairobi and made away with several electronic items.

It is reported the thugs who were armed with crude weapons, gained entry into the home after cutting through the fence and later breaking the window pane to the main house.

Karen OCPD Cunningham Suiyanka confirmed that a television set, laptops and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of shillings were stolen from the house during the 2AM robbery.

The police boss said they had intensified the search in the nearby forest where the suspects are believed to have gone into hiding.
