Marginalisation is no longer an issue, Duale tells North Eastern counties

National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, has told residents of Northern Eastern Kenya that they do not have any reason to complain about marginalization as they now control billions of shillings in their respective counties.

Speaking in Garissa University College during a motivational talk for secondary schools in Garissa, Duale said that for the first time since the country’s independence, the North Eastern Counties of Garissa, Wajir and Mandera now control more than Ksh20 billion in a single financial year.

“We will take part in nation building; whether in education or the business sectors, we will fight for every space in this country,” said Duale.

He was, however, quick to caution North Eastern residents to be more vigilant on how the money is spent as it could be misappropriated. He urged the public to always verify that moneys allocated to fund the implementation of various projects are spent appropriately.

Duale said it was high time NEP residents took up competitive jobs in National and County governments as well as in the private sectors of the economy.

He further told education stakeholders to up their game to ensure that more students join better secondary schools and universities. The Garissa Township MP said that his CDF kitty was available to help the region achieve that goal.

He commended parents and teachers in the region for posting good results in last year’s KCSE results. Duale futher lauded the minimal exam cheating cases in the region, citing that there were no cheating cases in all the public schools in his constituency.

The motivational talk was organized by the North Eastern Province Kenyatta University Students’ Association.
