Martha Karua awarded Ksh.6.5M in defamation suit against Moses Kuria

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has been awarded 6.5 million shillings in a case in which she had sued Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria for defamation.

In the case in which Karua was demanding to be paid 20 million shillings by Kuria as damages for claiming she procured witnesses to fix DP William Ruto at the International Criminal Court in the case over the 2007 post election violence.

In the case before Justice Joseph Sergon, Karua had argued the words uttered by Kuria damaged her reputation, as well as her standing as a politician, businesswoman, family woman and an advocate.

Karua said Kuria uttered the remarks at a Jubilee Party prayer rally at Kapsokwony in Bungoma County on September 21st 2015.

The Gatundu South MP however never defended himself or filed any submissions in the case.
