Central Kenya urged to reject BBI as Karua claims MCAs bribed

NARC Kenya leader Chairperson Martha Karua has urged the Mt.Kenya region to reject the Building Bridges Initiative.

She accused President Uhuru of bribing the region MCAs with car grants in order to have the BBI report passed at the county assemblies.

“It is bribery in return for the assemblies’ pledge to close their eyes on contentious issues and pass an unnecessary document,” Karua said

She compared the BBI document to poison being forced down the throats of Kenyans.

‘The infamous BBI must no longer be made a preserve for a few in state driven meetings, people must be provided with copies of the document,” She added.

Speaking in Baricho on Saturday after holding a meeting with NARC Kenya officials, Karua also accused President Kenyatta of trying to impose his successor on the region.

“Please Mr President we respect you and don’t try to tell us what we will do after you complete your term in 2022,’ Karua said

The latest comes after the region MCAs vowed to pass the report shortly after meeting with Uhuru at the Sagana State Lodge.

The president is on a 4-day tour of the politically restless region.
