Maseno University students shot after World Cup finals

Two students from Maseno University are nursing injuries after they were shot by suspected thugs while heading to their hostels from watching the World Cup Finals at Siriba Campus in Kisumu County.

The two, Vincent Ochieng and Eugene Ndobi, are reported to have sustained gunshot wounds on the chest, arm and wrists.

They were rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) in Kisumu.

Confirming the incident, Kisumu West OCPD Wilston Mwakio said the victims were robbed of their phones during the incident.

According to Mwakio, the students were waylaid by an armed gang of three as they walked back to their hostels.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi, Mwakio said they suspect the thugs came from Luanda, further adding that they retrieved spent cartridges from the scene of the incident as investigations continue.
