Matatu loses control in Machakos County, injures 13

Thirteen people are nursing injuries after a 41-seater matatu they were traveling in lost control on Kithimani- Makutano road in Machakos County.

The matatu, which was ferrying passengers to a ceremony on Friday night, lost control and rolled severally.

Confirming the incident, Kithimani OCS Peter Mbua said the vehicle was negotiating a sharp corner when it lost control.

Six goats were killed on the spot.

The injured were rushed to Matuu Level 4 Hospital for treatment.

This comes even as the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) raised the flag about increased road carnage in the country.

Speaking on Sunday Live with Julie Gichuru in June, NTSA Safety Director Mathew Munyao said that there has been an 11.5% increase in accident fatalities. He said that behavioral issues are to blame for the increase in road carnage in the country.
