Mathioya chiefs receive motorbikes in bid to boost security

Chiefs in Mathioya Constituency have been given eight motorcycles in a bid to boost security and enhance service delivery in the constituency.

Speaking at his office in Kiriaini while donating the motorbikes, Mathioya Deputy County Commissioner Mr Charles Laboso expressed high expectations of better performance from the chiefs now that their movements have been made easier.

“It is our expectation that the chiefs will execute their mandate particularly in addressing security issues,” said the DCC.

Laboso also directed that any distress calls from Mathioya residents be responded to within 30 minutes and any delays be explained by the chiefs.

He also pointed out that the motorbikes would be of great help in the fight against alcoholism and illicit brews as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Most illicit brews are made in the remote areas that are inaccessible but with the motor bikes in place accessing those areas will be easy,” Laboso said.

The national government will be fueling the chiefs’ motorbikes at a cost of Sh10,000 per month while the assistant chiefs’ motorbikes will be fueled at Sh5,000.

Senior Chief Kiru Location Samuel Maina Mwangi thanked the government for considering chiefs’ movements, adding that most of them visit crime scenes that are not easily accessible.

Mathioya MP Clement Wambugu who flagged off the motorbikes termed the program as a fulfillment of Jubilee Government’s pledge of boosting security.

“The government is on record in supporting security at the grassroots through provision of Land Rovers and equipping police stations and district headquarters offices,” said Wambugu.
