Matiang’i forced to address protesters demanding removal of roadblocks in Limuru
Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i on Monday morning found himself in the middle of demonstrations by transport operators in Limuru.
CS Matiang’i, who was on his way to Nyandarua, was forced to make a quick stop to address the operators who had blocked the road hence affecting traffic flow.
The operators were reportedly protesting against the police roadblocks put in place to prevent them from entering Nairobi.
They further alleged that they’re required to pay Ksh.200 each before being allowed to pass through, hence refused to leave the road until their grievances were heard.
“Unapata gari za kutoka Molo wanafika hapa wanamwagwa, askari anapewa pesa wanapita. Tunataka kuelezea kwa nini Limuru imefungwa,” said one of the Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators.
It took the intervention of the Interior CS, who briefly alighted from his vehicle and addressed the enraged operators, for the situation to return to normal.
