Matiang'i has no power to ban demos, NASA MPs say
Anti-riot police try to quell protests in Kisumu during a past demostration

Two NASA MPs have told off the acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi over his ban of anti-IEBC demonstrations in the major Central Business Districts of city centres.

Budalang’i  MP Raphael Wanjala and Alego Usonga MP George Omondi have dismissed the directive, saying CS Mating’i needs to know he has no power to ban demonstrations.

“Matiangi is only trying to impress his master at the expense of Kenyan’s right to picket,” said Omondi

Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala said the CS should accept the fact that the right to picket is enshrined in the Constitution and its upon himt to protect lives and property during such demonstrations.

Mr.Wanjala further dismissed Matiangi’s threats of imposing charges against NASA CEO Norman Magaya over the destruction caused during demonstrations.

Speaking in Siaya town, the MPs blamed Deputy President William Ruto for the current political impasse and constitutional crisis, insisting that is only through dialogue that the crisis can be settled.
