Mayweather, Pacquiao Face-To-Face At Last

There has been a lot of talk in the build up to the fight and Mayweather and Pacquiao have been in the heart of it ahead of the $300 million fight.

Speaking in a joint press conference on Wednesday, Mayweather exuded confidence of winning the bout, saying that he was not ready to taste defeat and promising that the world will stop on May 2 when he fights Pacquiao.

Mayweather, who is unbeated in the ring, thanked the organisers of the fight for putting together what he called the fight of the century, pitting the best against the best.

“Our plan is to be smart and take every fight as they come like all 47 fights. I’m in the gym pushing myself to the limit, because I want to win this more than any other fight."

"But I know one thing about sport, if you lose, it’s in your mind. I have always been a winner.”

DEFEAT THE UNDEFEATED

Pacquiao, who has a record of 57 wins, two draws and five losses, said he would beat the American for the good of boxing.

On his twitter post, Pacquiao said, “I’m here to prove that I can easily beat the undefeated. When athletes have great success, the success goes to their head. That is bad for boxing."

“I’m so happy we could make the fight happen. Thanks to the Mayweather team and to Showtime and HBO."

"The fans of boxing were waiting for this for five years. We are both going to train hard and we will do our best on May 2 to make you happy.”

MAYWEATHER VS PACQUIAO

Talks of a fight pitting Mayweather, also known as “Money”, versus Manny began in 2009, but arguments over drug testing and the details scuppered the deal twice.

Mayweather is currently the highest paid athlete in the world and his career earnings will rise to over half a billion US dollars from this contest.

Pacquiao is a Congressman in his country and has managed to capture the hearts of many boxing enthusiasts over the years. Cheapest tickets to the fight cost $1,500 with the most expensive costing $7,500 with hotels on the Strip charging $1000 a night.

As Mayweather trains in Las Vegas and Pacquiao in Los Angeles, one thing is for sure – May 2 is going to be a true Boxing Day.
