Mbarire to petition IEBC over election rigging

Runyenjes Member of Parliament, Cecily Mbarire, says she will petition the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) over planned rigging of party primaries by a section of leaders in the area.

Mbarire says some politicians have already hatched a plan to rig the party primaries and the General Election.

She cited reported cases of parallel voter registration and importation by a section of politicians from the region as one of the methods being used to facilitate the rigging of the August 8 polls.

Mbarire said that some politicians have access to IEBC’s raw voter registration data and may use it to tamper with the election results or the voting process.

She says that the arrest of a man in Majengo village within Embu town registering voters on behalf of one of the gubernatorial candidates was enough prove that IEBC was allowing some politicians to access such information.

Mbarire said that the names will be used to register residents into Jubilee Party without their knowledge in order to lock them out in the party primaries.

She called on politicians to conduct their campaigns with civility to avoid plunging the country into chaos.
