Mbarire, trade union call for probe into Afya House Scandal

Leaders and trade unionists have called for speedy and thorough investigations into the Afya House Scandal following the recent Ksh.5 billion scandal.

A section of Runyenjes MPs have come out to say that there is a need for speedy investigations into the scandal, adding that it a swift conclusion into the matter would calm tensions ahead of the 2017 polls.

Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire said that those found culpable, once the probe has been concluded, should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

“It is painful that funds meant to cater for the shambling health care to mwananchi, have been embezzled –[worse still] when culprits are allowed to go scot-free,” said Mbarire

Mbarire cited that she would support the fight against corruption, provided proper investigations into the graft claims were done. The MP said those adversely mentioned should be given an opportunity to defend themselves.

Union of Kenya Civil Servants National Treasurer, Justus Mugo, also insisted that the union would not defend any civil servant guilty of embezzling public funds.

“We are not out to create more harm to wananchi. This corruption must be stopped,” said Mugo.

Mugo also cited that the scandal should not be politicized, as being witnessed among many politicians.
