MCA aspirant dies in road accident

Itibo ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) aspirant on the Democratic Party (DP) ticket, Kefa Nyangatare, died in an accident on Friday afternoon (May 26) after his car lost control and rolled severally on Ikonge-Magwanga road in Nyamira County.

Conforming the incident, Nyamira North OCPD, Morris Asila, said Nyangatare was trying to avoid hitting a boda boda, when his car careened off the road.

Nyangatare, who was on the campaign trail, died on the spot.

His remains were taken to Nyamira County Referral Hospital.

Elsewhere, eight people were killed in two separate crashes in Muranga and Kisumu Counties.

Five people died on the spot and nine others were injured when a lorry ferrying timber crashed into two passenger cars at Mlima Swara area on Kenol-Sagana route.

In Kisumu County, three members of one family lost their lives when their car lost control in Katito-Ahero junction, Nyando.
