MCA behind Governor Waiguru impeachment motion attacked , two others receive death threats

Panic has gripped Kanjie village in Mutira ward ,Kirinyaga central after the homestead of Mutira ward MCA David Kinyua was raided by unknown people at 1am on Tuesday.

The MCA said his farmhand raised alarm after he discovered huge fire in the cattle shed.

Two jerricans of petrol were left behind in an incident the MCA now believes was an arson attack stemming from his anti-Waiguru stance.

In March, the MCA tabled an impeachment motion against Governor Anne Waiguru accusing her among others, gross violation of the constitution ,abuse of office and appointing personal employees to chair the tender evaluation committee.

In a related incident two Kirinyaga MCAs have recorded statements at Kianyaga police station claiming their lives are in danger.

MCAs Erastus Ireri (Ngariama ward MCA )and Rose Njeru a nominated MCA also from Ngariama said they are living in fear after leaflets were circulated in Ngariama warning them against criticizing Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru.

Governor Waiguru also hails from the Ngariama ward.

The two MCAs now say they have fled their homes after the warning leaflets were left outside their house.

“I want to go into hibernation because I do not know what these people are planning, I have told you If you no longer see me around, you know how things are,” MCA Erastus Ireri said.

On Sunday irate youths from Githure market clashed with Governor Waiguru’s supporters accusing her of laxity in fighting the spread of the new coronavirus in the constituency

Following the incident, Kirinyaga County Assembly Majority leader James Kamau Murango has urged the Kirinyaga Security team to provide security to the county assembly members and their families.

Murango said the MCAs are being intimidated over the motion of impeachment against Governor Waiguru.

He was speaking on Monday outside Kianyaga police station where he was accompanied by over 20 MCAs after the two MCAs recorded statements
