MCA who stripped to protest Ruto tweet suspended

The Siaya County legislator who stripped naked to protest a tweet allegedly posted by Deputy President William Ruto against Cord Leader Raila Odinga has been suspended.

Central Gem MCA Fred Ouda was sent home for three weeks for gross misconduct after a charged session on the County Assembly Powers and Privileges Committee report that said his conduct demeaned the assembly’s integrity.

The committee had proposed Ouda be suspended from all house businesses and privileges for the three weeks. West Gem MCA Jared Abayo called for more serious action against him, a position that was backed by most MCAs present.

A section of other leaders led by north Uyoma MCA Charles Omolo however defended the embattled MCA arguing that Central Gem voters would suffer if he is suspended for longer.

Ouda, who has vowed to continue defending Raila, is expected to apologize to the assembly as soon as he resumes.
