MCAs misusing funds in bonding foreign trips – Taita residents

Residents of Taita Taveta now want the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to conduct an extensive probe on the numerous bonding trips county officials and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have attended since 2013, insisting that they have not seen any positive impact.

The residents have accused MCAs of misuse of public funds by going for foreign trips that do not yield results.

The residents now lament that the trips were a waste of the assembly funds that could be used to initiate development projects.

“We, the residents of TaitaTaveta County, haven’t seen any new ideas in terms of planning and initiating beneficial projects. The MCAs are supposed to have gone to their wards and tell the people what they have learnt abroad, and how they intend to use the new knowledge in uplifting our lives,” said one of the residents.

They have accused the county officials of being corrupt, threatening to vote them out in the August 8 General Election.
