MCAs threaten to impeach Governor Gachagua for rejecting gym
Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua says he will move to court if a motion to impeach him is tabled in the County Assembly.
His sentiments come after a section of MCA’s said they will move a motion to impeach him after tabling a similar motion to send home County Secretary Alice Wachira on Thursday.
Speaking to Nyeri residents along Gakere road, Gachagua said the MCA’s are trying to oust him for declining to sign a Ksh 90 million-allocation for construction of a gym for them.
Gachagua said the money will be diverted to other more inclusive and development projects that will benefit the electorate.
Last week, MCA’s urged Gacahgau’s younger brother, Rigathi Gachagua, to keep off county government matters, accusing him of usurping Deputy Governor Samuel Wamathai’s powers.
The MCAs said they would not allow Governor Gachagua or any other person to intimidate them.
