MCAs threaten to reject Ngilus executive nominees
Kitui Members of County Assembly (MCA’s) on Thursday threatened to reject the entire list of eleven County Chief Officer nominees submitted by Governor Charity Ngilu to the County Assembly for vetting.
Led by Majority Leader Peter Kilonzo, the Wiper party MCAs faulted the governor for what they termed as “overlooking regional balance, the youth, women and people living with disabilities” in her appointments.
The MCAs further accused the Kitui governor of appointing senior county officials without advertising in the dailies or conducting interviews as required by law.
“Some posts like Chief of Staff, Director of Communications, administration and coordination heads were never advertised that action in itself is contravention of the law.” said Kilonzo
The MCAs further allege that the nominees lack the necessary academic and professional qualifications for the positions they have been appointed hence unconstitutional.
The Athi MCA claimed that some of Ngilu’s appointees were also appointed to positions they had not applied for.
“We want to let the governor know that we are not going to approve the list as it is, she has to revise it before it too late.” said Kilonzo
“Every part of Kitui County has to be included in the appointments,” he added
