Media Council Opposes Security Bill

The regulatory body said that it will draft its own amendments for consideration since some proposals in the bill will curtail media freedom.

The proposed security bill has faced reactions from different interest groups country wide.

The opposition, ODM, vowed to stop the bill from being passed in parliament terming it as retrogressive and would take Kenya back to the old days of KANU.

The proposed amendments in the Security Laws Amendment Bill 2014 seeks to slap suspected terrorists with lengthy jail terms.

It also aims at and cracking the whip on those radicalizing the youth.
