Men who impregnated six primary school girls yet to be arrested

Six girls from Olokuseroi Primary School were impregnated by men who are apparently known to residents of Narok County.

However, the men are yet to be arrested.

Three of the girls are candidates for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.

The other three are in Class 6; they are between three and six months pregnant and all come from Nkareta Location.

Confirming the incident, Narok North Children’s Officer, Pilot Khayemba said the case was reported to his office by their headmaster.

According to Khaemba the culprits will only be arrested and prosecuted if the girls’ parents produce their birth certificates as proof of age.

He further urged other parents to report such matters early enough to the police and his office to ensure that culprits are brought to book.

The officer said the community also needs training on how to counsel victims because the number of underage girls’ pregnancy cases in Narok has increased.

Pregnancy cases which have been reported since the beginning of the year are 37; this makes Narok County the leading countrywide at 46 per cent.

Two months ago, the Governor’s office launched a program at the Maasai Mara University for changes in the education sector in the county.
