A Nanyuki court has sentenced a man to 15 years in prison for repeatedly defiling his stepdaughter at their home in Timau Buuri, Meru County.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the man had been defiling the minor for over a year and threatening to kill her if she ever reported the abuse.

“During the trial, the court heard that between March 2020 and May 2021, in Timau Buuri, West of Meru County, the accused, who is the stepfather to the victim, repeatedly defiled her and threatened her with death if she reported the abuse,” stated the ODPP.

Appearing before Nanyuki Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Ben Mararo, the perpetrator was slapped with the said jail term after the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

The prosecution, led by Counsel Maina Kimaru, presented six witnesses to testify in the case.
