Meru youth warned against political violence

Residents of Igembe South Sub County have been assured of peaceful environment before, during and after the August 8 General Election.

Igembe South Sub-county Commissioner, who is the head of security in the area, James Kosgei, said the government will provide maximum security by deploying police officers during political gatherings, in a bid to ensure peaceful co-existence between rival camps.

Mr Kosgei, who was speaking to residents at Athiru Gaiti Ward, advised the youth not to let rogue politicians use them negatively to disrupt political meetings of their rivals.

“During this campaign period, politicians have a tendency of using the youth to spoil rival campaigns. They provide the youth with free alcohol. The youth should avoid this,” said Mr Kosgei.
