Michelle Obama stumps for Hillary Clinton in Philadelphia
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign deployed a popular surrogate on Wednesday (September 28) to gin up enthusiasm amid young voters who could be critical to victory on November, 8: Michelle Obama.
First Lady Michelle Obama campaigned in the battleground state of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia’s La Salle University, talking tough about Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump without mentioning him by name.
“Because we know that being president isn’t anything like reality TV. It is not an apprenticeship and it is not just about fiery speeches or insulting tweets It’s about whether someone can handle the awesome responsibility of leading this country” she told a supportive crowd.
She accused him of trafficking in “prejudice, fears, and lies” and alluded to his debate remarks about possibly avoiding paying federal income taxes.
“So if a candidate is erratic and threatening if a candidate traffics in prejudice fears and lies on the campaign trail, if a candidate thinks that not paying taxes makes you smart or that it’s good business when people lose their homes. If a candidate regularly and flippantly makes cruel and insulting comments about women about how we look how we act, well sadly that’s who that candidate really is” she said.
Michelle Obama later traveled to western Pennsylvania for an evening rally at the University of Pittsburgh
